A co-captain and guard on College Football Hall of Fame head coach Ara Parseghian’s 1970 Notre Dame squad, Larry DiNardo was a Consensus All-America selection. An Academic All-American, he compiled a 3.05 GPA in political science and made it on the Dean’s List in six semesters. DiNardo helped the Fighting Irish to a 10-1 record and a then school record of 510.5 yards per game on offense.  His offensive teammates included Hall of Fame quarterback Joe Theismann and Hall of Fame wide receiver Thom Gatewood. DiNardo was also a member of Blue Circle, the University’s Academic Honor Society. He was selected in the seventh round (158th overall) in the 1971 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints. He played in five preseason games before getting cut. Instead of trying to make another team, he chose to return to Notre Dame and enter law school, graduating in 1974. DiNardo began practicing law in South Bend, Ind. and later joined the firm of Seyfarth, Shaw and Fairweather in Chicago. He is now a partner at Jones Day, a global law firm.
