John Sande

A member of the Dean’s List in every semester at Stanford, John Sande compiled a 3.6 GPA in economics and earned First Team Academic All-America honors in 1970. Achieving great success on the gridiron as well, he was named First Team All-Pac 8. Playing a key role in College Football Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Plunkett’s campaign for the 1970 Heisman Trophy, Sande was selected for the Hula Bowl. He earned his J.D. from Harvard and is currently active before the Nevada legislature in lobbying corporate, banking, natural resources and commercial issues on behalf of numerous clients.

Sande serves as a Director of Western Alliance Bancorp, and he previously served on the Board of Directors for Bank of America Nevada and as Chairman of First Independent Bank of Nevada.  Sande is a Trustee of the William F. Harrah Trust and a Director on the Board for the Andrus Center for Public Policy. He is involved in numerous community activities and is presently a Director of the Reno Air Race Association and Chairman of the Reno-Tahoe Open, a PGA Tournament.  Sande has served as Capital Campaign Chairman for KNPB, is a past two-term Member of the Stanford Athletic Board, a former Trustee of the Northern Nevada Youth Golf Foundation and a former Chairman of the Harrah's Automobile Museum.

Sande was named to the Stanford University All Century Football Team and was inducted into the Stanford University Athletic Hall of Fame in 2004.  He was included on the 2012 Best Lawyers in America list for his work in Government Relations Law.
