The Pac-8 leader in punt return yards in 1971, Bill Cahill holds the Washington school record for punt return yards per attempt in a season (16.2) after returning 26 punts for 421 yards, highlighted by 100-yard performances against TCU and Illinois. A co-captain for the Huskies in 1972, he returned 49 punts for 668 yards and holds a program record for career punt return yards per attempt (13.6). An Honorable Mention All-American in 1972, Cahill appeared in the Chicago Tribune All-Star Game and the Hula Bowl. An Academic All-Pac 8 selection in 1970, he compiled a 3.18 GPA in psychology. Cahill spoke to Little League groups and high school assemblies, and he made appearances at the Children Orthopedic Hospital.

Cahill was selected in the seventh round of the 1973 NFL Draft by the New Orleans Saints. He signed with the Buffalo Bills and played two seasons, returning 14 punts for 135 yards and a touchdown. Cahill earned his MBA from Seattle University in 1993 and is now a real estate broker at Realogics Sotheby's International Realty in Seattle.
