A First Team Academic All-American, defensive back Cleve Whitener compiled a 3.6 GPA in mechanical engineering and was a member of the honorary engineering fraternity. He served as president of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and received the Red Helmet award for giving 110 percent effort on and off the field. Whitener founded Lauren Engineers and Constructors, Inc., in 1984 and serves as President and Chief Executive Officer. He has 36 years of wide-ranging experience in ownership and management of EPC (Engineering, Procurement, Construction) companies, with project experience in the electric power generation, chemical/polymers, refining and industrial manufacturing markets.

Whitener has also been actively engaged in community affairs, having served as Chairman of the West Central Texas Workforce Development Board and Chairman of Harmony Family Services.  He currently serves on the Young Life Committee in Abilene, Texas, and the Bible Training Center for Pastors Board of Directors in Tucker, Ga. He is also on board of Fellowship of Companies for Christ International (FCCI).
