The Colorado team leader in interceptions in 1973, Richard Bland recorded five of his six career interceptions that year, including a program-record three in one game against Air Force. The National State Bank Award recipient as the school’s top defensive back, he helped the Buffaloes to two bowl appearances and a victory in the 1971 Bluebonnet Bowl. A First Team Academic All-Big 8 selection, Bland attained a 3.34 GPA in journalism and made it on the Dean’s List seven semesters. He received his J.D. from Colorado and is now the owner of Bland Law Offices in Longmont, Colo.
