A three-year varsity letterman for the University of Texas, Pat Kelly led the Longhorns in receiving yards in 1971 (226) and 1973 (268). He finished his career with 42 catches for 618 yards and a touchdown. An Academic All-SWC selection, Kelly attained a 3.58 GPA in pre-law.

Kelly went on to earn his J.D. from Texas, graduating in 1977. He has remained in the Austin area ever since, practicing law for the past four decades. He currently serves as a government lawyer with Travis County, specializing in civil litigation.

Kelly also heads the NFF Greater Austin Chapter, which honors the top scholar-athletes in the area while also recognizing the outstanding individuals in the region who have either supported or played the game.
