A Co-Captain of the undefeated 1973 Penn State football team, Mark Markovich earned Second Team All-America honors as a guard, tackle and center under College Football Hall of Fame head coach Joe Paterno. Leading the way for College Football Hall of Famer and Heisman Trophy winner John Cappalletti, Markovich also earned a spot in the 1974 Senior Bowl. The Nittany Lions were three-time Lambert-Meadowlands Trophy winners and compiled a 33-3 record in Markovich’s tenure. A First Team Academic All-American, he attained a 3.27 GPA and was a three-time Dean’s List member. Markovich served as president and rush chairman of his fraternity and as a member of the Interfraternity Council.

Markovich was selected in the second round (43rd overall) of the 1974 NFL Draft by the San Diego Chargers. He played two seasons each with the Chargers and the Detroit Lions, appearing in 41 games. Markovich is currently the president of Illinois Machine & Tool Works in Peoria, Ill.
