Vanderbilt’s star receiver en route to the 1974 Peach Bowl, Doug Martin caught 19 passes for 279 yards and a touchdown in his senior season. Maintaining an A average in physics and economics, he was a two-time Academic All-America and three-time Academic All-SEC selection. Martin was a Phi Beta Kappa and received an appointment to a research fellowship by the Oak Ridge Association of Universities. In his career as a Commodore, he caught 58 passes for 948 yards and five touchdowns. After receiving his MBA from Stanford, Martin began his career in mergers and acquisitions with Morgan Stanley in New York. He has been involved in private equity for Stephens, Inc., in Little Rock, Ark., for more than 30 years, and has been a senior managing director the past ten years.
