A three-year letterman and starter at safety for Arkansas under College Football Hall of Fame head coach Frank Broyles, John "Bo" Busby helped the Razorbacks to a 10-2 record, a SWC title and a 31-10 victory over Georgia in the Cotton Bowl in his junior season, all while earning All-SWC honors. The team leader in pass breakups in 1976 (6), he received the Chism Reed Outstanding Senior for Leadership Award. Busby was active in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and served as a dormitory officer.

Busby graduated with a medical degree from Arkansas in 1982 and completed his residency and fellowship at Ochsner Medical Center in Jefferson, La. He is currently a doctor at South Arkansas Cardiovascular Surgery in Pine Bluff, Ark., specializing in cardiac surgery. He is a member of Arkansas’ 1970s All-Decade Team and a lifetime member of the A Club.
