Known as the “Poet in Pads,” Gerry Huesken attained a perfect 4.0 GPA in English at Susquehanna University while serving as a four-year starter at offensive tackle for the Crusaders. As a junior, he won Little All-America and Academic All-America honors. The co-captain of the 1976 squad, Huesken also served as a dormitory resident assistant for two years and head resident for one year, and as a member of the Student Judiciary Board and the Student Government Athletic Committee. He received his master’s in educational administration from the University of Pennsylvania in 1978 and his doctorate in education administration from Temple in 1991. Huesken has served as the superintendent of the Conestoga Valley School District in Lancaster, Pa., since 1984.
