A three-year letterman at offensive tackle at Dartmouth, Patrick Sullivan was named First Team All-Ivy League in 1976 and the team’s offensive MVP in 1975. He served as co-captain of both the 1973 freshman squad and the 1976 varsity squad. Compiling a 3.6 GPA in mathematics, Sullivan made the Dean’s List ten consecutive terms. He earned his medical degree from the University of Iowa, where he also completed his orthopedic residency. After completing his fellowship training at Iowa Joint Fellowship in 1987, Sullivan joined Des Moines Orthopedic Surgeons, P.C.

He developed considerable expertise in hip, knee and shoulder replacement surgery by additional study in a traveling joint fellowship at several joint replacement centers in both the United States and Europe. Sullivan has published several scientific papers concerning hip and knee replacement and has developed significant experience and interest in the treatment of sports medicine injuries and arthroscopy of the knee and shoulder. He is board certified by the American Board of Orthopedic Surgeons and a member of the American Association of Hip and Knee Surgeons, the Iowa Orthopedic Society, the Iowa Medical Society and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery.
