A three-year letterwinner at USC under College Football Hall of Fame coaches John McKay and John Robinson, Gary Bethel helped the Trojans to a 26-9 record, three bowl victories and a Pac-8 title in 1976. A versatile lineman who played guard and center, he played a key role in a USC offense that ranked fifth in the nation in average points scored in 1976 and was selected to play in the Hula and Japan Bowls. The Football Alumni Club Award winner as the senior with the highest GPA, Bethel boasted a 3.5 GPA in history and was twice named to the Pac 8 Honor Roll. He was a member of the Blackstone pre-law organization and the Alpha Epsilon Pi fraternity. Bethel earned his J.D. from University of the Pacific’s McGeorge School of Law and has been a managing shareholder with Littler Mendelson for more than 30 years.
