A First Team All-American and three-time First Team All-Southern Conference selection, placekicker Craig Jones holds VMI records for points scored by kicking (221), field goals made (55) and field goals attempted (83). He also ranks fourth in school history in career scoring (221), career PATs made (56) and career field goal percentage (66.3). Jones was named Southern Conference Player of the Week after kicking a school-record five field goals to lead the Keydets to a 23-13 win over William & Mary, including the school’s first 50-yard field goal, then a school record.

A two-time First Team Academic All-American, he compiled a 3.72 GPA in civil engineering.  Jones received the Superior Cadet Award, the W.M. Hubard Memorial Scholarship and the Lemuel MacKennie Long Jarman Award. He served as sergeant in the Corps of Cadets and as chairman of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. Jones was inducted into the VMI Sports Hall of Fame in 1991.

Jones received his J.D. from the University of Virginia School of Law in 1988 and has served as a teacher, instructor and principal at multiple military academies. He currently serves as a consultant for the Southern Teachers Agency in Virginia.
