Known as Wisconsin’s “Mr. Everything,” co-captain and back Tom Stauss was named the 1979 team MVP after leading the Badgers in receiving yards (660), rushing for 196 yards and three scores and returning 17 punts for 98 yards and a touchdown. A three-time Academic All-Big Ten selection, he received the Ivan Williamson Scholastic Award as Wisconsin’s top scholar-athlete and the Rogers and Allan Shafer Scholarships.

Stauss earned his M.D. and completed his internship and residency in anesthesiology at Wisconsin. He is currently a physician for Advanced Pain Management in Madison, Wis., a practice he founded. Stauss has been a volunteer assistant clinical professor at the Medical College of Wisconsin since 2009.
