A two-year starter at center for Air Force, Jim Tubbs made the school’s Champion’s Board and was named the administrative sergeant of his squadron. He volunteered with a local orphanage and the Special Olympics. Compiling a 3.54 GPA, Tubbs was selected for the Cadet Research Program and made the Dean’s List every semester.

He earned his MBA from the University of Texas in 1981 and then attended Undergraduate Pilot Training. In 1995, Tubbs attended the U.S. Army Command and General Staff College and graduated from the U.S. Air Force School of Advanced Airpower Studies with a Master’s in Airpower Art and Science. In 2009, he was named the business manager at Fishburne Military School in Waynesboro, Va.
