The Tigers failed to produce a win against Georgia in 1959, but they responded in 1960 with an undefeated season and a win over Navy in the Orange Bowl.

Brossart was impressive off the field as well. Boasting an impressive 3.81 GPA, he gained membership in several of the nation’s most prestigious honor societies, including Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Rho Sigma. As a freshman, Brossart received the ROTC Curators medal. He was nominated to the Academic All-Conference team in his 1958 and 1959 seasons, and he graduated among the top five students in his entire class.

The Brentwood, Mo., native stayed at the University of Missouri to attend Missouri Medical School, and he graduated first in his class. Brossart started his medical career in Albany, Ore., and subsequently moved his general surgery practice to Bryan, Texas, where he retired in 1998. He now resides in Aledo, Texas.
