Bruce Henry was a four-year letterman at Colorado School of Mines at halfback. In 1960, he led the Orediggers as the team’s top rusher, passer and total offense back while also playing on defense.
With a 3.68 GPA, Henry was the top student in his class of metallurgical engineering. He balanced a challenging work load with 22 semester hours and 34 contact hours his senior year in addition to football. The halfback served as president of the student body as well as president of his fraternity. Henry was the recipient of two academic scholarships, and he earned a spot of the Dean’s academic honor roll every semester.
In 1992, Henry was awarded by the Colorado School of Mines with the Distinguished Achievement Medal. This medal is given to a former Mines student by the Board of Trustees whose significant career achievements enhance the reputation and mission of the university. Henry served as the executive vice president of Polaroid for 30 years.
