A three-time Academic All-New England Small College Athletic Conference selection, Mike Mancini “has been everything we want in a student-athlete,” according to head coach Jeff Devanney. The team captain becomes the first NFF National Scholar-Athlete in Trinity College history.

A two-time CoSIDA Adademic All-District selection, Mancini has earned faculty honors every semester since 2010. The 2013-14 Trinity College Junior Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year, he is a recipient of the Arthur E. Memorial Scholarship. He is a member of the Tri Beta National Honor Society, the National Society of Collegiate Scholars and the Nu Rho Psi Neuroscience Honor Society. The Rocky Hill, Conn., native boasts a 3.82 GPA in neuroscience, and he plans to attend medical school following graduation.

A 2013 First-Team All-NESCAC performer, Mancini earned Conference Player of the Week honors once as a junior after recording 14 tackles and recovering two fourth-quarter fumbles in a 28-17 win over Bates College. He finished his outstanding career with 136 tackles, three interceptions and 10 pass breakups while leading the Bantams to a 26-6 record and the 2012 conference title during his time in Hartford.

Mancini is the vice president of Trinity’s College Without Borders program, and he volunteers at the Trinfo Community Garden, where he designed a functional hydroponic system used by the local Boys and Girls Club. He also mentors sixth graders at McDonough Expeditionary Learning School. Mancini has participated in Hartford Hospital’s Summer Pre-Med Research Program, and he was in a shadow program at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center and St. Mary’s Hospital.
