The Great American Conference and Henderson State record holder for career passing completions, yards and touchdowns, Kevin Rodgers has placed himself in rarefied air, setting new high water marks and redefining excellence both on and off the field. He becomes the Reddies’ second NFF National Scholar Athlete.

A native of Rockwall, Texas, the impressive quarterback graduated magna cum laude last December, and he was selected to give the commencement address. He plans to pursue his MBA. The 2014 Great American Conference Scholar-Athlete of the Year, Rodgers is a 2014 CoSIDA Academic All-District and three-time Academic All-GAC selection. He boasts several academic awards, including the 2013-14 Wells Inspiration Award, and he is a member of the Beta Gamma Sigma and Alpha Chi honor societies.

A three-year team captain, Rodgers has led the Reddies to back-to-back undefeated regular seasons, two GAC Championships and two NCAA Playoff appearances. He has been named a 2013 Beyond Sports Network First-Team All-American and Associated Press Second-Team Little All-American. He is a two-time GAC Male Athlete of the Year, and he was the conference’s Offensive Player of the Year three consecutive seasons.. The 14-time GAC Offensive Player of the Week selection has thrown for more than 3,000 yards each season from 2012-14, and he led all of Division II in total offense and in passing yards as a junior. This season, he currently leads the GAC in every passing category, and he ranks in the top 10 in both passing yards and passing touchdowns in Division II. He completed his stellar career with 1,010 passes for 13,678 yards (fifth all-time in Division II) and 124 touchdowns (third all-time in Division II).

Rodgers was featured by CBS Sports Network for his tornado-relief efforts in Mayflower, Ark., earlier this year. He was selected as the captain of the 2013 AFCA Good Works Team, and he volunteers with a number of organizations, including HSU’s Baptist Collegiate Ministries, the local humane society, food pantries, blood drives and youth football camps. Rogers was signed by the Houston Texans as an undrafted free agent after the 2015 NFL Draft.
