Ed Molinski was a star for two of the most famous coaches of all time. In his time at Tennessee, the Vols had a 31-2 record. They were unbeaten in the regular season all three years; they won once in the Orange Bowl and lost in the Rose Bowl and Sugar Bowl. Molinski made five All-America teams as a guard in 1939, a year when Tennessee went 10-0 and out-scored opponents 212-0 in the regular season. "Big Mo" was captain of the university boxing team and Tennessee state heavyweight champion in Golden Gloves. He was a second lieutenant in the Marines in World War II. Then Molinski worked as assistant football coach at Memphis State and Mississippi State while studying for a medical degree. Dr. Molinski settled in Memphis and practiced medicine there until his death June 26, 1986.
