Eddie Price was one of the best. Born in New Orleans in 1925, Price, playing for Warren Easton High School, carried the ball so well he won All-City, All-State and All-Southern honors. After serving in the Navy in World War II, Eddie played outstanding football at Tulane from 1946 through 1949. His ball carrying was so outstanding that he won All- Southeastern Conference honors for two years, and his SEC rushing record survived for 27 years. He was awarded All America honors by United Press, the International News Service and the Associated Press. Playing at 195-pounds, this 5-11 "Irresistible Force" starred in the first Senior Bowl and was signed by the New York Giants. In 1950, Price was runner-up Rookie of the Year, and he won All-Pro honors in 1951 and 1952. Married and the father of four children, Eddie Price was a building contractor in New Orleans, where he was active in politics. He died in July, 1979.
