Glenn Ressler excelled as a center for Penn State. He played in the line, middle guard, on defense. His excellence won the Maxwell Award in 1964. The award is given to the nation's best player. The award was 28 years old in 1964, and Ressler was the fifth lineman to win it. He was all east twice and consensus All-American in 1964. In 1963 he had 15 unassisted tackles when Penn State upset # 1-ranked Ohio State 26-0. The Associated Press and Sports Illustrated named him Lineman of the Week. The Philadelphia Sports Writers Association named him Lineman of the Year. Following his senior season he played in the East-West Shrine Game and Hula Bowl. Penn State named him to the Athletic Honor Roll for excellence in sports and academics. Ressler had a pro career of 10 years with the Baltimore Colts 1965-74.
