The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame was founded in 1947, inducting its inaugural NFF College Football Hall of Fame Class in 1951. Since then, enshrinement in the NFF College Football Hall of Fame has represented the highest level of achievement for players and coaches. Of the more than 5.7 million individuals who have played or coached college football since the first game in 1869, only 1,129 players and 241 coaches have been inducted into the Hall of Fame—just two one-hundredths of one percent (0.02%) of those who have played or coached the game.
