Hall of Fame Candidate Capsule: D.J. Dozier

Leading in to the announcement of the 2012 College Football Hall of Fame Class, the National Football Foundation highlights members on the Hall of Fame Ballot. The 2012 Class will be announced on May 15 in New York City.

SCHOOL: Penn State

POSITION: Running back

YEARS: 1983-86

ATHLETIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS: The first running back in Penn State history to lead the squad in rushing for four straight seasons, Dozier amassed 3,227 career rushing yards and 25 touchdowns. Dozier helped the Nittany Lions to a 37-10-1 mark, including a 12-0 national championship season in 1986, and three bowl appearances. Dozier competed in the East-West Shrine Game in 1987.

CIVIC SERVICE: Dozier currently works in ministry and is involved in numerous activities through the church.

NOTABLES: A gifted multi-sport athlete, Dozier played five seasons of professional baseball including 25 games with the New York Mets.
