Hall of Fame Candidate Capsule: Erick Anderson

Leading in to the announcement of the 2012 College Football Hall of Fame Class, the National Football Foundation highlights members on the Hall of Fame Ballot. The 2012 Class will be announced on May 15 in New York City.

SCHOOL: Michigan

POSITION: Linebacker

YEARS: 1988-91

ATHLETIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS: A Butkus Award winner in 1991, Anderson helped Michigan play in four New Year's Day bowl games (including three Rose Bowls) and record four consecutive top-10 finishes under Hall of Fame coach Bo Schembechler. A tackling machine, Anderson remains the only player in Michigan history to lead the club in tackling all four seasons on campus. He ranks third in school history with 428 career tackles and tied for second with 19 career double-digit tackle games. A three-time All-Big Ten performer, Anderson was named the Big Ten Co-Defensive Player of the Year as a senior. Anderson helped Michigan win or share the Big Ten title all four years on campus, and spearheaded a defense that led the league in total defense, rushing defense and scoring defense twice and pace the conference in turnover margin three times. Anderson also enjoyed a perfect 4-0 mark against rival Ohio State and went 3-1 versus intrastate foe Michigan State. In addition to his 428 tackles, Anderson notched 25 tackles for loss, seven sacks, five interceptions and five fumble recoveries in 42 career starts.

CIVIC SERVICE: Anderson co-runs an organization called FIT (Fitness In Teams, LLC), which provides social skills training for children with autism, Asperger's Syndrome, ADD and other social dysfunction disorders. He also volunteers with Cleveland/Akron Walk to D’Feet ALS and other ALS local chapter functions

FOOTBALL HONORS: Anderson is a member of Michigan's All-Century Team.
