Hall of Fame Candidate Capsule: Bobby Humphrey

Leading in to the announcement of the 2012 College Football Hall of Fame Class, the National Football Foundation highlights members on the Hall of Fame Ballot. The 2012 Class will be announced on May 15 in New York City.

SCHOOL: Alabama

POSITION: Running back

YEARS: 1985-88

ATHLETIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Named the UPI Offensive Player of the Year in 1987, Humphrey finished 10th in Heisman Trophy voting that fall. Selected as the Alabama Offensive Player of the 1980’s, he set school records for single-season total yards (2,016 in 1986) and career (4,958) as well as the most 200-yard rushing games (four) and most 100-yard rushing games (100). The two-time All-SEC honoree amassed 40 career touchdowns while helping Alabama to a 35-13-1 overall record with four bowl apperances.

CIVIC SERVICE: He annually hosts a golf tournament to benefit former Crimson Tide running back Siran Stacy, whose family was affected by a tragic car accident.

NOTABLES: Humphrey was inducted into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame in 2004. From 2000-05, Humphrey served as the head coach of the Birmingham Steeldogs arena football team.
