Hall of Fame Candidate Capsule: Bobby Majors

Leading in to the announcement of the 2012 College Football Hall of Fame Class, the National Football Foundation highlights members on the Hall of Fame Ballot. The 2012 Class will be announced on May 15 in New York City.

SCHOOL: Tennessee

POSITION: Defensive back

YEARS: 1969-71

ATHLETIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS: A 1971 unanimous All-American, Majors led the Volunteers to three New Year’s Day bowl games and two bowl wins. A two-time All-SEC honoree, he pushed the Vols to the 1969 conference championship. He holds the school record for single-season and career punt returns.  

POST-COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CAREER: Selected in the third round of the 1972 NFL Draft by the Cleveland Browns, he played two seasons in the NFL and one for the Memphis Southerners of the World Football League.  

NOTABLES: Majors was named the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame Amateur Athlete of the Year in 1972. He is the brother of College Football Hall of Famer Johnny Majors and played for College Football Hall of Fame coach Doug Dickey.
