Hall of Fame Candidate Capsule: Jim Seymour

Leading in to the announcement of the 2012 College Football Hall of Fame Class, the National Football Foundation highlights members on the Hall of Fame Ballot. The 2012 Class will be announced on May 15 in New York City.

SCHOOL: Notre Dame

POSITION: Wide Receiver

YEARS: 1966-68

ATHLETIC ACCOMPLISHMENTS: Seymour was an incredibly productive player at Notre Dame, helping the Fighting Irish win a national championship during his sophomore season of 1966 and earning All-America honors during his junior and senior seasons. A three-year starter, Seymour led the club in receiving over his three years on the varsity. Totaling 2,113 yards and 16 touchdowns on 138 receptions, Seymour set school records for single-game catches and yards, receiving yards per game for a single season and career, and receptions per game.  

POST-COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC CAREER: Seymour was a National Guard member from 1969-75. He was also a member of the NFL Alumni Association and the Holy Cross Booster Club.

NOTABLES: Made cover of Time Magazine with teammate Terry Hanratty as Notre Dame’s “Baby Bombers”. He was coached by Hall of Famer Ara Parseghian.
