Leaders from across the national collegiate landscape will meet at NFF Headquarters to discuss increasing opportunities for women as athletics administrators.
IRVING, Texas (Jan. 28, 2014) – The National Football Foundation (NFF) announced today that the annual winter meeting of National Association of Collegiate Woman Athletics Administrators (NACWAA) will take place Jan. 29-30 at the NFF headquarters in Irving, Texas. The meetings will be led by NACWAA President and University of Texas Women’s Athletics Director Chris Plonsky (a member of the NFF Board since 2002) and NACWAA Chief Executive Officer Patti Phillips.
“We would like to thank the National Football Foundation for hosting our winter meetings at their headquarters,” said Phillips. “The Foundation does a marvelous job of supporting college athletics and the scholar-athlete ideal, and we are grateful for their support in helping us create new opportunities for women to advance as administrators in the world of college athletics.”
NACWAA conducts a variety of initiatives to enhance the development of women in administrative positions in intercollegiate athletics. NACWAA membership is open to all (men and women) of any job type, level and industry.
“We are proud to host the NACWAA winter meetings at our headquarters,” said NFF President & CEO Steve Hatchell. “NACWAA serves an important role in creating opportunities for women to become top-level administrators in college athletics, which benefits us all. We need to ensure that the best and the brightest choose career paths as athletics administrators, and NACWAA plays a significant part in making that happen.”
NACWAA holds numerous events throughout the year, including its national convention and several symposiums, which create opportunities and celebrate the accomplishments of women as athletics administrators. The organization’s many other activities include offering scholarships to aid in career development; operating a mentoring program that matches accomplished veteran administrators with next generation of leaders; creating networking opportunities; serving as an advocate with the NCAA and other appropriate governing bodies; and fostering a range of opportunities for career development and advancement.
