Hatchell Named to CoSIDA Hall of Fame

Steve Hatchell recognized for his decades of involvement in the profession since the early 1970s when he served as the director of sports information for the University of Colorado.

IRVING, Texas (Feb. 26, 2018) – The College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) announced today that National Football Foundation (NFF) & College Hall of Fame President Steven J. Hatchell will be inducted as a member of the 2018 CoSIDA Hall of Fame class, recognizing his numerous contributions to the profession of sports information.

“We are extremely pleased that CoSIDA has chosen to recognize Steve Hatchell,” said NFF Chairman Archie Manning. “Steve began his career as a sports information director, and his enduring appreciation of the role that SIDs play in the promotion of college athletics has played a critical role in the success of the NFF and our efforts to highlight why Football Matters®. This is a well-deserved honor for Steve, and I know it means the world to him to be recognized by his peers in the sports information profession.”

The CoSIDA Hall of Fame luncheon will take place Thursday, June 28 during the 61st Annual CoSIDA Convention at the Gaylord National Resort and Convention Center in National Harbor, Maryland, as part of NACDA and Affiliates Convention Week. H

“I am thrilled that CoSIDA is able to honor this phenomenal group of athletics communications professionals,” said Rob Carolla, CoSIDA President and Director of Communications in a statement. “They are among the leaders in our business and showcase the talent and skills that all administrators who handle communications in the college space possess. I look forward to seeing them recognized at our annual convention in June.”

CoSIDA is comprised of more than 3,000 intercollegiate athletic communications and media relations professionals from colleges, universities and athletic conferences at all divisions of competition in the United States and Canada. University of Colorado Associate AD/Sports Information Dave Plati, a 40-plus year CoSIDA veteran, also was selected to the 2018 Hall of Fame class but has deferred his acceptance to the 2019 induction.
