The Alliance of American Football is a new eight-team professional football league founded by TV and film producer
Charlie Ebersol and longtime NFL executive
Bill Polian, The Alliance features eight teams, under a single entity structure, playing a 12-week season kicking off Feb. 9 on CBS and culminating with the championship game the weekend of April 26-28.
The NFF has multiple ties to the new league, including four College Football Hall of Famers in front office or head coaching positions.
Troy Polamalu, a 2019 Hall of Fame electee from USC, serves as the Alliance's Head of Player Relations. Three other Hall of Famers will serve as head coaches during the league's inaugural season.
Dennis Erickson (2019 electee as a coach) will serve as head coach of the Salt Lake Stallions,
Mike Singletary (Hall of Fame player from Baylor) will serve as head coach of the Memphis Express and
Steve Spurrier (Hall of Fame player and coach) will serve as head coach of the Orlando Apollos.
In addition, three former NFF National Scholar-Athletes appear on rosters for the Alliance's inaugural season:
Aaron Murray (Georgia - Atlanta Legends),
Karter Schult (Northern Iowa - Salt Lake Stallions) and
Dustin Vaughan (West Texas A&M - San Antonio Commanders).
Additionally
Charles Arbuckle, who runs the Carolinas Senior Football Showcase, is the tight ends coach for the Arizona Hotshots.
The Alliance promises "high-quality professional football fueled by a dynamic Alliance between players, fans and the game." Fans will be able to stream Alliance matchups live via the free Alliance app while accessing integrated fantasy options with real rewards — for themselves and the players they are cheering on. Players will have state-of-the-art protection on the field and ample opportunities off it.
