2022 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Update - Week 13

Updates on the on- and off-field success of the 2022 Campbell Trophy® Finalists/NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class Presented by Fidelity Investments following Week 13 games (Nov. 24-26). 

The William V. Campbell Trophy® is college football's premier scholar-athlete award that annually recognizes an individual as the absolute best in the nation for his combined academic success, football performance and exemplary leadership. The 15 finalists will each receive an $18,000 postgraduate scholarship as a member of the 2022 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class Presented by Fidelity Investments®. 

The finalists will travel to Bellagio Resort & Casino in Las Vegas for the 64th NFF Annual Awards Dinner Presented by Las Vegas on Dec. 6, where their accomplishments will be highlighted in front of one of the most powerful audiences in all of sports. Live during the event, one member of the class will be declared as the winner of the 33rd Campbell Trophy® and have his postgraduate scholarship increased to $25,000.
 

Thirteen Campbell Trophy® Finalists Named to Academic All-District Teams

Thirteen of the finalists for the 2022 Campbell Trophy®/members of the 2022 NFF National Scholar-Athlete Class Presented by Fidelity Investments were selected to the Academic All-District teams this year: Anders Carlson (Auburn), Jake Chisholm (Dayton), Nicholas D'Ambrose (Chicago [IL]), Ryan Greenhagen (Fordham), Oso Ifesinachukwu (Yale), Ahofitu Maka (UTSA), Peter Oliver (Holy Cross), Walter Rouse (Stanford), Austin Stidham (Troy), Julius Wilkerson (Wayne State [MI]), Austin Williams (Mississippi State), JR Woods (Johns Hopkins [MD]) and Michael Wozniak (Saint John's [MN]). 
 

Other Week 13 Updates

Iowa LB Jack Campbell
Campbell tied for the team-lead with eight tackles in the Hawkeyes' loss to Nebraska. He finishes the regular season ranked second in the Big Ten and tied for 10th in the FBS with 118 tackles. Campbell moves into 19th place on Iowa's all-time tackle chart with 295. He is one of five finalists for the 2022 Butkus Award as the nation's top linebacker. The 7-5 Hawkeyes now await their bowl destination. 

Auburn PK Anders Carlson
Carlson missed Auburn's season-ending loss to Alabama in the Iron Bowl.

Dayton RB Jake Chisholm
Chisholm is one of 30 finalists for the 2022 Walter Payton Award, which is annually presented to the FCS offensive player of the year. He is also one of 15 finalists for the 2022 Fed Ex Ground Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award, which is annually presented to the top student-athlete in FCS football. 

Fordham LB Ryan Greenhagen
Greenhagen had 10 tackles and blocked a field goal in Fordham's loss to New Hampshire in the first round of the FCS Playoffs. He finishes the 2022 season second on the team and in the Patriot League with 113 tackles. He is also second on the Rams with 4.5 sacks. A 2022 First Team All-Patriot League selection, Greenhagen was announced as one of 30 finalists for the 2022 Buck Buchanan Award, which is annually presented to the FCS defensive player of the year. He was also named the 2022 Patriot League Football Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Greenhagen ends his career as Fordham's all-time leader in career tackles (425) and career solo tackles (247). 

Yale DL Oso Ifesinachukwu
Ifesinachukwu was named to the 2022 Academic All-Ivy League Football Team, and he was chosen as one of 15 finalists for the 2022 Fed Ex Ground Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award, which is annually presented to the top student-athlete in FCS football. He also received the Yale football team's Chester J. LaRoche Award, which is named for the NFF's first chairman and is given to the senior on the squad, who by his character and academic talents, has given the most to Yale.

UTSA C Ahofitu Maka
Maka helped the Roadrunners rally from a 24-0 deficit for a 34-31 win over UTEP in their regular-season finale. UTSA won its ninth-straight game to finish off a perfect 8-0 league slate, putting a stamp on its first undefeated conference record in program history. UTSA (10-2 overall) was ranked No. 23 in this week's AP Poll and No. 24 in the Coaches Poll. Maka and the Roadrunners will host North Texas in the Conference USA Championship Game this Friday, Dec. 2, at 7:30 p.m. ET on CBS Sports Network.

Kansas State QB Adrian Martinez
Martinez missed Kansas State's regular-season finale win over Kansas with an injury. The Wildcats will play TCU in the Big 12 Championship Game this Saturday, Dec. 3, at Noon ET on ABC.

Holy Cross RB Peter Oliver
Oliver was named a 2022 First Team All-Patriot League selection and an Academic All-Patriot League team member. He was also chosen as one of 15 finalists for the 2022 Fed Ex Ground Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award, which is annually presented to the top student-athlete in FCS football. Oliver and the eighth-seed Crusaders will host New Hampshire in the second round of the FCS Playoffs this Saturday, Dec. 3, at Noon ET on ESPN+. 

Stanford OT Walter Rouse 
Rouse did not play in Stanford's season-ending loss to BYU. 

Troy OL Austin Stidham
Stidham started his team-leading 60th career game while guiding the Trojans to a 48-19 win over Arkansas State for its ninth-straight victory. With the win, Troy (10-2 overall) earns the Sun Belt West Division title, and will host Coastal Carolina in the Sun Belt Championship Game this Saturday, Dec. 3, at 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. 

Mississippi State WR Austin Williams
Williams had one catch for six yards in Mississippi State's 24-22 win over Ole Miss to win the Egg Bowl. He has now played in a school-record 62 career games with 38 career starts, and he ranks fifth in school history with 148 career receptions. The 8-4 Bulldogs now await their bowl destination.

Johns Hopkins (MD) OL JR Woods
Woods was named a 2022 Academic All-Centennial Conference selection.

Saint John's (MN) DL Michael Wozniak
Wozniak had three tackles and 0.5 TFL in Saint John's loss to Wartburg (IA) in the second round of the NCAA Division III Playoffs. He finishes the year as the Johnnies' team-leader with nine sacks. Wozniak was named the 2022 MIAC Defensive Player of the Year, and he is one of the 15 semifinalists for the 2022 Gagliardi Trophy, which is awarded annually to the most outstanding football player in NCAA Division III.
