NOTES:
Georgia picked up 40 of 56 first-place votes and remained No. 1 for the 16th week in a row, dating back to Oct. 9, 2022 after defeating Kentucky 51-13 at home. An SEC team has been ranked No. 1 in the poll each week dating back to Sept. 29, 2019, a span of 48 weeks.
 
Michigan and Ohio State each moved up one slot to Nos. 2 and 3, respectively, by virtue of Texas falling seven spots to No. 9 after a four-point loss to Oklahoma in Dallas. The Sooners rose seven spots to No. 5 after the victory over the Longhorns.
 
Oregon State (5-1) continued to win this season with a victory over Cal, landing at No. 15, the Beavers' highest ranking in school history.
 
Louisville defeated Notre Dame, 33-20, landing in the poll for the first time since Oct. 1, 2017. The Cardinals No. 13 ranking marks the team's highest appearance since a No. 12 spot on Nov. 20, 2016.
 
Tennessee joined the poll for the fourth time this season, claiming the No. 16 spot after being idle in Week 6.
 
Washington State joined Notre Dame in suffering a road loss and both teams subsequently dropped from the poll.
 
The SEC and Pac-12 led all conferences with four teams each, followed by the Big Ten and ACC with three each and the Big 12 with two.

ABOUT THE FWAA-NFF SUPER 16 POLL:
The FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll was established at the conclusion of the 2013 season by long-time partners, the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and the National Football Foundation (NFF). Voters rank the top 16 teams in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, and the results will be released every Sunday of the 2023 season; the individual votes of all members will also be made public. The first regular season poll will be released on Tuesday, Sept. 5 (to account for Labor Day games), and the final poll will be released Sunday, Dec. 3. The pollsters consist of FWAA writers and College Football Hall of Famers who were selected to create a balanced-geographical perspective. The poll utilizes a computer program designed by Sports Systems to compile the rankings and the Cody Kellner Points Index to publish the individual votes.
