NOTES:
Unbeaten Oregon held the top spot in the poll for the third straight week after defeating Michigan in Ann Arbor, 38-17, on Saturday. The Ducks never trailed against the Wolverines and appear to have a clear path to the Big Ten championship game.
Ohio State, which lost to Oregon earlier in Eugene, pulled off a solid 20-13 victory at Penn State on Saturday and moved to No. 3, right behind No. 2 Georgia, which struggled before beating Florida, 34-20, in Jacksonville. Miami, Fla., blew out Duke and moved up to No. 4, with Penn State falling from third to sixth after losing to the Buckeyes. Texas, idle, moved up to No. 5.
Unbeaten Indiana is now No. 8, its highest ranking in the poll this season. Texas A&M dropped from ninth to No. 15 after being upset at South Carolina, 44-20. Clemson, No. 8 a week ago, fell out of the poll after losing a home game to Louisville.
And once-beatens SMU and Boise State entered the poll for the first time this season. SMU had a notable 48-25 victory over previously unbeaten No. 15 Pitt, which dropped out of the poll. No. 13 Iowa State, previously unbeaten, also dropped out of the poll after losing a home game to unranked Texas Tech. Ole Miss overwhelmed Arkansas, 63-31, to move back into the poll.
The SEC led all conferences with seven teams. The Big Ten had four teams, the ACC two, and the Big 12, Independents and Mountain West one each.

ABOUT THE FWAA-NFF SUPER 16 POLL: The FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll was established at the conclusion of the 2013 season by long-time partners, the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and the National Football Foundation (NFF). Voters rank the top 16 teams in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, and the results will be released every Sunday of the 2024 season; the individual votes of all members will also be made public. The first regular season poll will be released on Tuesday, Sept. 3 (to account for Labor Day games), and the final poll will be released Sunday, Dec. 8.
