2024 NFF Campbell Trophy® Finalist Luke Lehnen Caps College Carrer with Another National Title

The teams of four other NFF Campbell Trophy® Finalists are still competing in the postseason.

IRVING, Texas (Jan. 6, 2025) – Luke Lehnen, the 2024 NFF Campbell Trophy® Finalist from North Central College (IL) who only lost two college games in 59 college starts, concluded his career with a second national title Sunday night, leading the Cardinals to a 41-25 win over Mount Union (Ohio) in the Amos Alonzo Stagg Bowl at Shell Energy Stadium in Houston.

With Lehnen under center, the Cardinals also won the Division III National Championship in 2022, and they appeared in the title game in 2021 and 2023, finishing as the national runner-up in each of those seasons. Lehnen, who on Jan. 3 became just the second two-time recipient of the Gagliardi Trophy as the top player in Division III, led North Central to an astounding 57-2 record during his college career with the only losses coming in the 2021 and 2023 Stagg Bowls.

Lehnen, who was named the game's MVP, concluded his career as the NCAA's all-divisions leader in career passing efficiency (211.9) and touchdowns responsible for (213 with 162 passing and 51 rushing). The previous record for touchdowns was 190, and his 162 passing touchdowns tied the all-time NCAA mark. During his career, Lehnen passed for 12,658 yards, averaging 11.2 per pass and 214.5 yards per game. He rushed for 3,327 yards, averaging 7.7 yards per carry.

Lehnen, who graduated magna cum laude last December with a 3.76 GPA as an exercise science major, is the only player in collegiate history with at least 50 career rushing touchdowns (51) and at least 100 passing touchdowns (162). The graduate student, who is currently pursuing his master's in sports leadership, has thrown at least one touchdown pass in a collegiate-record 59 consecutive games.
