NOTES:
Status quo pretty much ruled the FWAA/NFF Super 16 poll teams this past Saturday.

Thirteen of the 16 teams were active, and 11 of the 13 teams won. The first 12 teams remained ranked nearly the same as they were a week ago, and Ohio State stayed No. 1, followed by Indiana, Texas A&M and Georgia at 2–4.

One of the losers, USC, was ranked 16th and fell to then-No. 7 Oregon, causing a slight ripple effect in the poll. The Ducks moved up to No. 5 this week as a reward. Idle Ole Miss fell a spot to No. 6, as did idle Texas Tech from sixth to seventh.

No. 13 Georgia Tech got tripped up in Atlanta by Pittsburgh. That cost the Yellow Jackets a spot in the poll and a lot more in the ACC race. Michigan and Texas are back in the poll in the final two spots.

For the record, the SEC led all conferences with seven teams, followed by the Big Ten with four, the Big 12 with three, the ACC with one and the Independents with one.

Rivalry Weekend is up next, when more movement will almost surely occur than this past week. Only two Super 16 polls remain.

ABOUT THE FWAA-NFF SUPER 16 POLL:

The FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll was established at the conclusion of the 2013 season by long-time partners, the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and the National Football Foundation (NFF). Voters rank the top 16 teams in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, and the results will be released every Sunday of the 2025 season; the individual votes of all members will also be made public. The first regular season poll will be released on Tuesday, Sept. 2 (to account for Labor Day games), and the final poll will be released Sunday, Dec. 7. The pollsters consist of FWAA writers and College Football Hall of Famers who were selected to create a balanced-geographical perspective. The poll utilizes a computer program designed by Sports Systems to compile the rankings and the Cody Kellner Points Index to publish the individual votes.
