NOTES:
The top seven teams in the FWAA-NFF Super 16 poll from a week ago all won on Saturday, and there was only minor movement at the top. No. 1 Ohio State and No. 2 Penn State held their spots with easy victories. And No. 3 LSU and No. 4 Georgia stayed put with big victories against Florida and Tennessee, respectively.
Ohio State is the No. 1 team for the 13th time in poll history, which is the third-best total of No. 1 rankings in poll history.
The only change in the top seven was idle Florida State replacing Texas at No. 7. The rest of the Top Ten was Oklahoma, Texas and Illinois, in that order.
Notre Dame and Clemson each dropped out of the poll after losing their second games of the season, both to unranked teams at the time (Texas A&M and Georgia Tech, respectively), and South Carolina lost at home to unranked Vanderbilt to also fall out of the poll.
Texas A&M entered the poll for the first time at No. 11; Alabama re-entered the poll at No. 14 after a two-week absence; and Utah was ranked for the first time at No. 16.
Half of the poll consists of eight SEC teams, for the third time in poll history. The Big Ten had four teams, the ACC and Big 12 two each. The last time the SEC had eight teams was twice last season.

ABOUT THE FWAA-NFF SUPER 16 POLL:
The FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll was established at the conclusion of the 2013 season by long-time partners, the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and the National Football Foundation (NFF). Voters rank the top 16 teams in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, and the results will be released every Sunday of the 2025 season; the individual votes of all members will also be made public. The first regular season poll will be released on Tuesday, Sept. 2 (to account for Labor Day games), and the final poll will be released Sunday, Dec. 7. The pollsters consist of FWAA writers and College Football Hall of Famers who were selected to create a balanced-geographical perspective. The poll utilizes a computer program designed by
Sports Systems to compile the rankings and the Cody Kellner Points Index to publish the individual votes.
ABOUT THE FWAA:
Founded in 1941, the Football Writers Association of America consists of journalists, broadcasters, publicists, photographers and key executives in all areas of college football. The FWAA works to govern media access and gameday operations while presenting awards and honors, including an annual All-America team. For more information about the FWAA and its programs and initiatives, contact Executive Director Steve Richardson at 214-870-6516 or tiger@fwaa.com.
