NFF Releases Annual Report on Football for 2026–27

Annual publication brings together the latest participation data, safety advancements and developments shaping the game.

IRVING, Texas (Oct. 7, 2026) — The National Football Foundation & College Hall of Fame (NFF) today released its 2026–27 Annual Report on Football, examining the sport's growth and the developments shaping its future at every level.

The report covers participation trends, new college programs, advances in player safety, rules changes and coaching practices. The NFF compiles the publication each year to provide a central resource for understanding the state of football and the opportunities it creates for players, schools and communities.

"The future for football remains strong at every level of the sport," said NFF President & CEO Steve Hatchell. "It is inclusive, builds community and provides many educational and leadership opportunities."

This year's report highlights expanding opportunities to play, including growth in women's participation, alongside innovations in technology and coaching that support player development and safety.
