NOTES:
The Miami Hurricanes are still atop the FWAA/NFF Super 16 Poll for a third straight week, but barely, after a pulsating 38-35 victory at North Carolina. Georgia moved into the No. 2 slot after dominating Florida, and Ohio State, second a week ago, fell to USC and tumbled to No. 11.

Utah remained unbeaten after overwhelming Cincinnati, 49-25, and climbed from No. 7 to No. 3. Indiana survived against Minnesota, 23-16, in overtime, but fell from fourth to No. 6 this week, as UCLA remained unbeaten and replaced the Hoosiers at No. 4.

Three unbeatens remain in the poll — Miami, Utah and UCLA — and all are ranked in the top four. The Hurricanes received 48 of the 56 first-place votes; Georgia had seven, and Notre Dame the other vote.

Once-beaten Notre Dame used a big second half to crush Navy, 35-13, in Foxborough, Massachusetts, and moved up one spot to No. 5.

Meanwhile, four ranked SEC teams took the week off — Kentucky, Alabama, LSU and Tennessee — resting up for huge games this coming Saturday among the quartet when Alabama is at LSU and Kentucky is at Tennessee.

There were no new teams in the poll this week. The deck chairs were just rearranged a little bit.

The SEC leads all leagues with seven teams in the poll, the Big Ten and Big 12 have three each, the ACC two and independents one.

NEXT WEEK'S SCHEDULE:
No. 1 Miami (FL) at No. 5 Notre Dame
No. 2 Georgia at No. 12 Ole Miss
No. 7 BYU at No. 3 Utah
No. 4 UCLA at Minnesota
No. 6 Indiana — Idle
No. 8 Kentucky at No. 16 Tennessee
No. 9 Alabama at No. 14 LSU
No. 10 Texas at Missouri
Oregon at No. 11 Ohio State
West Virginia at No. 13 Texas Tech
Merrimack at No. 15 Wake Forest

ABOUT THE FWAA-NFF SUPER 16 POLL:
The FWAA-NFF Super 16 Poll was established at the conclusion of the 2013 season by long-time partners, the Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) and the National Football Foundation (NFF). Voters rank the top 16 teams in the NCAA Football Bowl Subdivision, and the results will be released every Sunday of the 2026 season; the individual votes of all members will also be made public. The first regular season poll will be released on Tuesday, Sept. 8 (to account for Labor Day games), and the final poll will be released Sunday, Dec. 6. The pollsters consist of FWAA writers and College Football Hall of Famers who were selected to create a balanced-geographical perspective. The poll utilizes a computer program designed by TicketManager to compile the rankings and Kellner Ratings to publish the individual votes.

ABOUT THE FWAA:
Founded in 1941, the Football Writers Association of America consists of journalists, broadcasters, publicists, photographers and key executives in all areas of college football. The FWAA works to govern media access and gameday operations while presenting awards and honors, including an annual All-America team.
