U.S. Rep. Roger Williams Shines the National Spotlight on NFF Hatchell Cup Winner Stephenville High School (TX)

Yellowjackets honored earlier this month as the top academic high school football team in the nation.

IRVING, Texas (Feb. 25, 2026) – U.S. Rep. Roger Williams (TX-25), a valued member of the National Football Foundation (NFF) Board of Trustees, took to the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives today, using his national platform to recognize Stephenville High School (TX) as the 2025-26 winner of the NFF Hatchell Cup, Presented by Bob's Steak & Chop House. The Yellowjackets claimed the NFF Hatchell Cup earlier this month as the top academic high school football team in the nation.

"The Hatchell Cup represents everything we believe the game of football develops in the young people who play it – excellence in the classroom, on the field, and as leaders in the community," said NFF Chairman Archie Manning. "We are deeply grateful to Congressman Williams, a highly respected member of our board, for using his platform in the United States House of Representatives to highlight Stephenville High School and to help elevate the powerful message behind this award."
 
Presented annually by the NFF, the Hatchell Cup honors the nation's top high school football team based on excellence in academics, athletics, and community service. Stephenville earned the distinction with a perfect 4.0 team GPA while completing an undefeated season and capturing a Texas state championship.
 
During his remarks in Washington, Rep. Williams praised the Yellowjackets' achievement and commended the players, Head Coach Sterling Doty, and the Stephenville community for their dedication and success both on and off the field.
