Kyle Vanden Bosch’s commitment to excellence, and his deep desire to excel no matter the venue, produced a record of legendary proportions as a scholar-athlete.
 
The Larchwood, Iowa, native graduated with a 3.82 GPA in finance, earning him Academic All-America honors twice, Academic All-Big 12 honors four times and a place on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Academic Honor Roll for six consecutive semesters.
 
His other academic accolades included an NCAA Postgraduate Scholarship, the Woody Hayes Division I Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year honors, finalist for the 2001 Nebraska Male Student-Athlete of the Year Award, Innocence Society Honorary member, Mortar Board National Honorary member, Golden Key National Honor Society member and a role in Nebraska’s Annual Chancellor’s Honors Convocation.
 
The team captain in 2000 and a four-year letterman, Vanden Bosch finished his collegiate career with 142 total tackles, 13 sacks, 34 tackles for loss and 46 quarterback pressures. As a senior, he set a Nebraska single-season record with three blocked kicks.
 
A 2001 second-round pick of the Arizona Cardinals, he was traded to Tennessee after the 2004 season, where he earned three trips to the Pro Bowl.
 
In 2010, Vanden Bosch signed with the Detroit Lions, and the following year he led them to their first playoff appearance since the 1999 season. He retired from the NFL following the 2012 season.
 
In 2008, Vanden Bosch started the KVB S.A.C.K. (Supporting and Assisting Charities for Kids) Foundation, which aims to give children more opportunities for success in life. In 2014, he was inducted into the Iowa High School Athletic Association’s Football Players Hall of Fame.

In 2021, he began coaching a youth football team in Ahwatukee, Arizona.
