Biography
A 6-6, 315-pound unmovable force with a top-flight pedigree, Michael Muñoz became one of the most decorated student-athletes in Tennessee history.
The Mason, Ohio, native started all 12 games as a freshman and earned a spot on The Sporting News’ Freshman All-America team. After missing the 2001 season due to a knee injury, Muñoz returned to start his final 34 games, becoming a consensus All-American in 2004 and a three-time All-SEC pick.
A four-year letterman and two-year team captain, Muñoz became the first true freshman to start on the offensive line in nearly 20 years, and he joined teammate Kevin Burnett as the first Tennessee junior captains in 59 years. He posted 55 intimidation blocks in just nine games played his senior season, shortened because of an injury.
Graduating in three-and-a-half years with a 3.67 GPA in political science, Muñoz was a three-time member of the SEC Academic Honor Roll. A regular member of the Dean’s List, he participated in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Boys and Girls Club.
A Woody Hayes National Scholar-Athlete his senior year, he earned an MBA from Miami University (Ohio) after graduating from Tennessee.
The son of Southern California All-American and Pro Football Hall of Famer Anthony Muñoz, Michael worked as the director of development for the Anthony Muñoz Foundation while winning election in 2005 as a trustee in Hamilton Township, Ohio.
He subsequently worked as a marketing manager at Procter & Gamble, and in 2011, he launched the Muñoz Agency, which provides strategic insights for capturing consumer loyalty within the Latino community. Muñoz served as CEO & president of the organization while also serving as Executive Director of the Anthony Muñoz Foundation until January 2017.
After three years working for the Pro Football Hall of Fame, Muñoz is now the vice president of business development for the Hall of Fame Resort and Entertainment Company, the only resort, entertainment and media company centered around the power of professional football and owner of the Hall of Fame Village in Canton, Ohio.
