Biography
The Gators, the 2006 SEC Champions, snapped the Buckeyes' 19-game winning streak, claiming their second national title in the schools 100-year history. The Gators previously claimed the MacArthur Trophy and the national championship ten years ago after the 1996 season under head coach Steve Spurrier. The 2006 Gator team will now have its name etched on the silver trophy, which will visit Gainesville until the 2007 champion claims it. Last year, more than 500,000 people saw the trophy while it was on display in Austin after the Texas Longhorn's victory in the title game.
