NFF National High School Scholar-Athlete Award Recipients
Biography
Boasting a perfect 4.0 GPA, Brandon Wier was class valedictorian, a Kansas Honors Scholar, and Outstanding Senior Math and Science student at Olathe North High School (Kan.). The 6-foot-2, 172-pound Wier starred at wide receiver and free safety while playing for his father Gene. As a senior, he led his team to an undefeated season and the Kansas 6A State Championship. As a three-year starter, he led his teams to an impressive 30-2 record. At the end of his senior year, Wier was selected first team All-America by the National Football Weekly, and he was named the State of Kansas School Player of the Year. He was also named first team Kansas All-State and Kansas City Star Metro Scholar-Athlete of the Year. A class officer for three years, Wier was a reading volunteer in elementary schools, a leader in his church youth group and an officer in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes. He continued his efforts as a scholar-athlete at the University of Kansas, earning First Team Academic All-Big 12 honors all four years as a defensive back. Wier is currently an analyst at Highside Capital Managment in Dallas.
