NFF National High School Scholar-Athlete Award Recipients
Biography
With a perfect 4.0 GPA, Bryan Blew ranked first in his class of 415 students at Edmond North High School (Okla.), earning honors as his class valedictorian. He received the National Merit Award for Academic Excellence, and he was both the National Radio Shack/Tandy and the State of Oklahoma Academic Scholar of the Year. A member of the National Honor Society and the Oklahoma Honor Society, Blew was also an AP Merit Scholar.
The 5-foot-11, 175-pound quarterback earned USA TODAY Honorable Mention All-America Honors, and he was also named to the PrepStar, the Blue Chip Magazine and the National Recruiting Advisors All-America teams. A star performer in track, Blew was named the Jim Thorpe Scholar-Athlete of the Year for all high school sports in the state, and he was the Oklahoma Coaches Association Scholar-Athlete of the Year. Blew also received the Hugh O’Brien Youth Leadership Award and the prestigious Allie P. Reynolds Award, presented to the State of Oklahoma’s outstanding senior based on excellence in scholarship, athletics and leadership.
Blew lettered on the Air Force football team in 2000, 2002 and 2003, serving as team captain in 2002. A 2002 Academic All-MWC selection, he rushed eight times for 87 yards and a touchdown as a Falcon. Led by College Football Hall of Fame head coach Fisher DeBerry, Blew and the Falcons defeated Fresno State 37-34 in the 2000 Silicon Valley Football Classic.
Blew earned a bachelor’s in management from the U.S. Air Force Academy, and he received his master’s in public policy from Harvard. Since 2012, he has served as President and CEO of Horizon Well Logging, LLC, in Tulsa, Okla.
