Biography
Dick Williams’ service to the state of Tennessee started with his days as a Vols football player. Williams was a starting defensive tackle and the team captain in 1968. After receiving his master’s in 1972, he went into banking with First American National in Nashville. Four years later, he entered credit insurance and financial services. In 1981, he was one of the founders of the Plateau Group, Inc. which became Tennessee’s largest producer of credit insurance. He is now president of the company and serves as chairman of the Consumer Credit Insurance Association. Williams has served as president of the East Tennessee Chapter of the National Football Foundation since 1990.
