Founded in 2004 by retired United States Armed Forces veterans, the National Capital (Va.) Chapter named Oliver its president in 2005. Under Oliver’s leadership, the chapter has recognized 130 scholar-athletes, 35 of whom have earned college scholarships. The chapter has also produced three NFF National High School Scholar-Athletes from the East region, including 2008 high school honoree Andrew Rodriguez, who went onto to play at Army and subsequently claim the NFF William V. Campbell Trophy in 2011.

“Receiving this special recognition is heartwarming for me because it is an example of a small chapter receiving accolades because of the strength and quality of those educators, coaches, and parents who place a high premium on scholastic excellence as well as athletic successes,” said Oliver. “I am most humbled by our chapter’s tremendous successes because of the teamwork and passion our entire chapter has for young men who play this great game. Truly, I am accepting this award as a team effort of our members.”
