  • Chapter Los Angeles Chapter
  • Year 2012

Biography

A Los Angeles native, Girardi attended Loyola High School, serving as manager of the football team and aiding them to two Southern California championships. Giardi then attended the University of Notre Dame, graduating in 1969.

Founded in 1963, the Los Angeles Chapter boasts one of the proudest histories of the NFF Chapter Network. Girardi joined the chapter in 1999, and he was named president in 2008. Under his efforts, the chapter has greatly increased its scholar-athlete program, upping the number of annual honorees to nearly 70 per year while also tripling the chapter’s scholarship contributions. Girardi has also driven the chapter’s efforts to provide $1,000 grants to Los Angeles-area high schools for improvements in athletic facilities and school libraries. The Los Angeles Chapter will commemorate its 50th anniversary in March 2013, inviting the approximately 1,300 scholar-athletes ever honored to return for a grand celebration.

“The presentation of this award is really a reflection on the hard work of members of the Los Angeles Chapter who have diligently logged so many hours in support of the goals of the National Football Foundation,” said Girardi. “I am privileged to serve with these friends and board members.”

Girardi has two sons, Patrick and Vince, who were honored as Los Angeles Chapter Scholar-Athletes in 1999 and 2007, respectively. Girardi works as a trial attorney for the Los Angeles firm Girardi – Keese.
