Biography

Football is truly a team game, and the Valley of the Sun Chapter has benefited greatly for many years from the efforts of the husband and wife team of Janie and Bill Riddle. The Riddles epitomize the "team" approach in every aspect of their lives. Bill, a 1965 graduate of Arizona State University and president emeritus of the Valley of the Sun Chapter, shares the bulk of the responsibilities with his wife and current chapter president Janie, a graduate of Phoenix College.

During the 1970's, Bill held the position of assistant administrative director of radiology at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Phoenix, while Janie was the coordinator of public relations. In 1981 Bill took a position as radiology department manager at Phoenix General Hospital and was joined later that year by Janie who was named director of public relations. In keeping with the team approach, Janie and Bill founded the Valle Luna Mexican Restaurant in 1983 and have expanded the business to include four locations in the Greater Phoenix area.

Over the years, they have both been the recipients of many accolades such as: volunteer of the year, citizen of the year, and businessperson of the year. Beginning with their first sponsorship of a Pop Warner team in 1983, they have gone on to sponsor over 400 youth athletic teams and have provided support to local schools and charitable organizations.

The Riddles serve on numerous organizational boards and committees. Janie is a vital member of the Fiesta Bowl Media Committee, and both over the last nine years have worked diligently to ensure the success of the Valley Sun's annual football-celebrity golf tournament. Bill and Janie have three daughters and one son.
