NFF Chapter Leadership Award Recipients
Biography
A 1978 graduate of Ohio State University with a bachelor’s degree in journalism and public relations, Jeff Logan of the NFF Columbus Chapter epitomizes being a product of a football family.
While playing for College Football Hall of Fame coach Woody Hayes from 1974-78, Logan became just the second Buckeye to rush for more than 1,200 yards in a single season. An All-Big Ten and Academic All-America selection, he led Ohio State to four conference titles and four New Year’s Day bowl appearances. He was a teammate of NFF Board Member and College Football Hall of Famer Archie Griffin and 2016 Hall of Fame inductee Tom Cousineau during his career in Columbus. After graduation, Logan became as a financial advisor, and he currently serves as the managing sales director and a financial planner at Lighthouse Wealth Solutions in Dublin, Ohio.
Logan served 12 years on Ohio State’s Varsity “O” alumni board, where he is a past president, and he continues to advise the board on its Hall of Fame selections. Logan was the color analyst for the Ohio State Football radio network from 1999-2005, and he still provides analysis for 610 WTVN’s pregame and postgame coverage for all Buckeye football broadcasts. He also does color commentary for high school football television broadcasts in the Columbus area.
In 2003, Logan co-founded the Logan Family Foundation, which has raised more than $400,000 for children and families in Columbus, Stark County and Ashland. He has made countless appearances for charities associated with Ohio State, and he regularly appears at various functions as a guest speaker.
Logan has been a member of the NFF Columbus Chapter board since 1982, including a 10-year stint as president. He currently serves as the chair and emcee of the chapters’ scholar-athlete banquet, which annually honors 15 high school and eight collegiate scholar-athletes while distributing thousands in scholarships. In 2011, Logan received the chapter’s Ohio Gold Award for his contributions to amateur football. His wife, Dena, a former Ohio State cheerleader, also served on the chapter’s board and as the banquet coordinator.
“My participation in amateur athletics at the highest level allowed me the opportunity to have an impact on other’s lives due to the attention we received,” said Logan. “It became clear to me that I could live a life of significance by using my privilege to pay it forward and help others. Being involved for the past 30-plus years with the Columbus Chapter of the NFF and College Hall of Fame has allowed me the opportunity to recognize and impact other young men who have the same opportunity to make a difference in the lives of others.”
Logan’s father, Dick, also played football at Ohio State under Woody Hayes, and his brother, Jud, is a four-time U.S. Olympian and the current track and field coach at Ashland University (Ohio). Jeff and Dena have two children, Katie and Christopher.
